The torrential rain of the weekend of 6th August saw Scarborough South Cliff Club postpone their annual Club Championship competition to Sunday 13th August
It proved a good decision as the weather was good for two rounds of golf despite a fairly strong wind
The course was set up long and proved difficult as only three scores on the day were under par
Paul Risker set the standard with a first round nett 69 and matched up with a second round level par nett 72 to take the Committee Cup for the best overall net score on the day
The main competition was the Club Championship Callum Chaplin was first out and set the score of 76 gross which wasn’t bettered by anyone However last years Champion Sean Burrows was hanging on to his title and matched the score with a gross 76
Chaplin then led the field round again and matched his first round score with another fine 76 and waited for the rest to come in
It was 18 year old Sean Burrows who just pipped him again with a great card of 75 which had 10 pars and 3 birdies to retain the Club Championship
